branding

What branding elements do I need?

A strong brand identity starts with professional graphics that help your organisation stand out online.

Before a website project starts, it helps to have your branding sorted – or at least know what you have and what’s missing. It is the first half of the artwork and content we need from you. Here’s what you’ll need.

Logo

A high-quality logo is essential for a consistent brand presence. Once you have one, you can use it everywhere: on your website, business cards, order forms, email footers, brochures and letterhead.

For a polished digital presence, we need at least two high-resolution logo versions:

  • Full-size logo – the main version used on your website. It can be any shape.
  • Square version – used for social media profile images and as your website’s favicon.

Your logo should be clear and scalable, so it looks sharp wherever it is used.

Colours and style guide

Choosing colours for your website can be challenging.

Ideally, your organisation will also have a style guide, which tells everyone how your brand should be communicated. A style guide typically defines:

  • Colour palette and how colours should be used.
  • Logo positioning and variations.
  • Typography and font choices.
  • Image guidelines for website and marketing materials.

A style guide keeps everything you publish looking like it came from the same organisation.

Images

A professional website needs good images. Aim for at least one high-quality image per page. Your options include:

  • Custom brand photography to add authenticity.
  • Stock images that suit your organisation.
  • AI-generated images. Be sure to adequately train AI to reflect your organisation before relying on this. If you don’t teach AI about you, all of your AI images will look like everyone else’s.

We can help optimise your images for fast-loading pages and better SEO. See our image preparation tips for how to send them to us.
